The Biomedical Photonics laboratories are focused on the applications of light in medicine and
biology. By bringing together researchers from throughout
the University and the Medical Center, Vanderbilt
has established an international presence in the field of
biomedical photonics. Our researchers develop and implement various optical
technologies for diagnosing and treating both physiological
and pathological processes in the human body. Our group
includes undergraduate researchers, graduate students,
post-doctoral fellows, research faculty and staff. We offer
opportunities for research to undergraduate students early
in their academic careers and are always seeking bright
