Vanderbilt-Northwestern-Texas-Harvard/MIT
(VaNTH) Engineering Research Center for Educational
Technologies
The challenge
of educating bioengineers given the ongoing
explosion of knowledge in biology and
medicine requires fresh approaches. The
VaNTH Engineering Research Center for
Bioengineering Educational Technologies
works to integrate learning science,
learning technologies, and bioengineering
expertise to develop effective educational
materials to educate bioengineers.
VaNTH conducts
research to better understand how
bioengineering students learn and the new
methods that can help them learn more
efficiently and effectively. The center also
develops educational materials based on its
findings that are learner centered,
knowledge centered, and assessment centered.
The developed
materials are disseminated to undergraduate
and graduate programs in bioengineering, to
middle and high schools, and to the
industrial and practitioner communities
through continuing education.
VaNTH is
sponsored by the National Science
Foundation.
