Fellowships
(Graduates and
Undergraduates)
CBR Institute for Biomedical Research-Postdoctoral
Fellow
Location: Springer Lab, Boston, MA
Postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the
Springer Lab at the CBR Institute for Biomedical
Research, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, to
study the structure, function, and cell biology of
integrin, IgSF, and selectin adhesion molecules.
Special topics include structural changes in
integrins that are regulated by signals within the
cell, and how selectins mediate force-resistant
interactions in the vasculature. Strong backgrounds
in structural or computational biology, protein
chemistry, cell biology, biophysics, and/or
bioengineering are particularly sought. Good command
of English required. See website for details:

Grants for Overseas Biomedical Engineering Study or
Research
-Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program
Location: Worldwide
The program has been established to allow biomedical
engineers early in their careers to study, pursue an
internship or do research overseas for one academic
year. The program consists of two branches:
Whitaker Fellows (pre-doctoral level) and Whitaker
Scholars (post-doctoral level.) Fellows must have a
BS or MS degree in biomedical engineering and not
have a doctorate at the time they start the
program. Scholars must have a degree in biomedical
engineering and a doctorate and will use the award
to conduct post doctorate work.

National Science
Foundation Graduate Fellowships
The
National Science Foundation (NSF) seeks to ensure
the vitality of the human resource base of science,
mathematics, and engineering in the United States
and to reinforce its diversity. A competition is
conducted for Graduate Research Fellowships, with
additional awards offered for women in engineering
and computer and information science. NSF Graduate
Fellowships offer recognition and three years of
support for advanced study to approximately 900
outstanding graduate students in the mathematical,
physical, biological, engineering, and behavioral
and social sciences, including the history of
science and the philosophy of science, and to
research-based PhD degrees in science education.
